Saturday the 8th Janaury was a historic day for the CDJL as we held our first ever girls only non competitive blitz for u8,9,10,11 and what an amazing success it was with teams from Burrin Celtic, St Fiaccs, St Pats, Killeshin, New Oak, Kilree Celtic, Vale Wanderers and Nurney Villa taking part. The feedback from clubs, and parents on social media has been amazing with clubs reporting that the have already had girls who never played before asking about training next week and how they join.

Ballon hosted one under 11 blitz while Killeshin hosted the u9 and Kilree hosted and u11. A super morning was had by all with Kylie Murphy making a special appearance in Killeshin with the Ladies FAI cup making it a special occasion for the girls. The feedback has been amazing as the girls played five a side games against each other with everyone getting at least three games and some getting more. The idea now is to play once a month and build on this so hopefully we have a girls only u12 league in a couple of years. Any other clubs interested in entering for February give the league a shout and we will arrange to enter you as we continue to promote girls soccer in Carlow. Remember if she can see it she can be it.
